Flat, arid Wyoming prairie as far as the eye can see. Hot sun, blue sky, cycling in a paceline, trading leads from Red Lodge to Lovell. 80 miles. Highlight was Frannie, WY, population 106, with a drive through bar. I can’t say a lot about Route 310 from Bridger, WY to Lovell. It’s flat open prairie. Lovell is lovely. Free camping and showers in their town park. Great meals, nice people. Not much talking.
That was yesterday. But today? We climbed up Route 14a to the Bighorn Plateau. Greater than 10% grades for 15 miles. “One of the hardest, toughest, best, and most challenging bike climbs in the United States.” Check it out. More tomorrow.
